The Empire Club of Canada has announced Wes Hall, founder and executive chairman of WeShall Investments, Kingsdale Advisors, and the BlackNorth Initiative, as the distinguished recipient of the 2023 Nation Builder of the Year Award.

Hall will receive the accolade at an exclusive event at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 25 at the Arcadian Court in Toronto. The ceremony will also feature an engaging conversation between Wes Hall and Dahabo Ahmed-Omer, CEO of the BlackNorth Initiative.

"This recognition humbles me deeply. Growing up in a tin shack in rural Jamaica, the idea of receiving such an honour was beyond my wildest dreams. This award is not just a personal triumph; it stands as a testament to the collaborative endeavours of every individual within the BlackNorth Initiative, the companies I lead, and the countless others dedicated to fostering positive societal change," Hall said in a statement.

The award ceremony will mark the formalization of The Empire Club of Canada's longstanding tradition, which dates back to 1903. The club has been dedicated to celebrating and providing a platform for individuals who contribute significantly to the development of the country. The Nation Builder of the Year Award recognizes explicitly those who have made a positive, timely, and lasting contribution to Canadian society, serving as inspiring role models for Canadians.

As the 2023 recipient, Wes Hall joins a prestigious list of notable Canadians who have received the Nation Builder of the Year Award. Previous honourees include the 2022 recipient, Dr. Hayley Wickenheiser, and the 2021 recipient, Perry Bellegarde, former Chief of the Assembly of First Nations and a prominent human rights advocate.
