Sweet Kiwi, a Black-owned frozen yogurt brand, strikes deal with Robert Herjavec on ‘Shark Tank’
The company struck a deal with shark Robert Herjavec for $250,000 for 16 per cent of the business.

Sweet Kiwi, a frozen yogurt brand based in Texas, appeared on a recent episode of ABC’s “Shark Tank”.
Founded by Ehime Eigbe and Michael Akindele in 2011, the owners came in looking for $250,000 for five per cent. Instead, the company struck a deal with shark Robert Herjavec for $250,000 for 16 per cent of the business.
Kevin O’Leary was in the running but abruptly pulled his offer for $250,000 for 20 per cent.
Soon after quitting her job as a bankruptcy specialist at Citi Group, she developed the idea and opened various brick-and-mortar locations in Lagos, Nigeria, where she is from.
Sweet Kiwi's founders moved to Texas in 2019 after achieving more than $2 million in lifetime sales in Africa. Today, it sells six frozen whipped Greek yogurts packed with nutrients like protein, probiotics, fibre, and immune-boosting superfoods.
The brand is available in more than 2,000 stores, including Whole Foods, Walmart, Kroger Co. and more.
