Vehya, a Black-owned company that installs EV charging devices, has partnered with Stellantis to offer its service as well as data collection and maintenance at more than 2,600 of its dealers in the U.S.

Founded in Detroit, the company is now the automaker’s second auto dealer partner, brought on board to help prepare for the industry’s electrification plans.

“In the U.S., auto dealers are a critical partner to consumers' transition to electric vehicles. We are excited and honoured to be chosen as a preferred installation partner to Stellantis' dealer network,” CEO William McCoy said in a statement.

Vehya-certified electricians and staff will perform site surveys and comprehensive estimates, and complete administrate and project management tasks. Moreover, its service will provide an account manager for repairs and maintenance of electric vehicles.

“We've found that our easy-to-use platform combined with an account manager for point of contact gives dealers peace of mind and minimizes barriers, especially in cases when dealing with utility company upgrades to sites,” Etta Salaj, business manager at Vehya, said in a statement.

Vehya is one of 15 companies that will soon graduate from Stellantis' National Black Supplier Development Program, which is designed to diversify its supplier base.

The program provides networking opportunities, training and development, and growth plan assessments, a statement reads.

“As our partners in the automotive industry transition to electric-vehicle sales and service, our goal is to provide our 2,600-plus U.S. dealers with high-quality options that meet their individual EV integration needs within every area of the dealership business," Phil Langley, head of network development, FCA – North America, said in a statement. “Vehya is equipped with the experience and infrastructure needed to help support our dealers and make this process as straightforward and simple as possible.”

The brands own 16 brands, including Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS, Fiat, Fiat Professional, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Mopar, Opel, Peugeot, Ram, and Vauxhall.

As part of its “Dare Forward 2030” plan, Stellantis is eyeing 50 per cent of sales in the U.S. being battery-electric vehicles (BEV) by 2030.

The company also plans to offer more than 25 BEVs in its fleet in the U.S. by the end of the decade.
