Pinky Cole Hayes is a mother, author, philanthropist, and head of the thriving Slutty Vegan brand. Even nine months pregnant with her third child and on a book tour, she recently served as a judge on Revolt TV’s “Bet on Black,” a series highlighting emerging Black entrepreneurs.

“This is my lane, entrepreneurship, and it was a cool way to really be able to showcase my entrepreneurial expertise,” she told CNN.

"Bet on Black" is a competition series with a $200,000 prize and judges look for businesses that build communities, support social justice and propel the culture. Celebrity guest judges have included T-Pain, Zerina Akers and DJ Envy.

Building on her background as a former producer for “The Maury Povich Show,” Cole has transformed Slutty Vegan into a highly successful restaurant chain. She is also the author of two books, “Eat Plants, B*tch: 91 Vegan Recipes That Will Blow Your Meat-Loving Mind” and “I Hope You Fail: Ten Hater Statements Holding You Back from Getting Everything You Want.”

Since becoming a household name, she said she has worked to give back, including paying off college students’ debt and working on a development deal in her hometown of Baltimore for a new retail area. Under Armour founder Kevin Plank is supporting the initiative.

“To look back at where my life has grown since 2018, I know that I’ve done a lot, but I still have a lot of work to do because I want to be the best,” she told CNN.

Her husband, Derrick Hayes, founder and CEO of Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks, also plays a crucial role. Still, Cole is keen on balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship to serve as an example to other mompreneurs with goals and aspirations.

“If I’m doing anything with business, nine times out of 10, you’re going to see me with my kids.”

Slutty Vegan will soon open a new location at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport.

“To start as a mom and pop and now be recognized as a national brand in (one of) the busiest airports in the world is just a really big accomplishment,” Cole told CNN. “For us to still be in a very sustainable place, considering a lot of businesses are closing their doors and we’re opening more doors, I’m just very grateful.”
