Access to the venture capital (VC) ecosystem has been restricted historically, but new kinds of businesses are creating opportunities for a diverse group of founders.

In a conversation with Ravi Belani, adjunct instructor at Stanford University, Charles Hudson, founder and managing partner at Precursor Ventures, talks about how he sees structural injustices in the venture capital sector and what the industry can do to make it easier for founders who don't match the usual mould to receive money.

Precursor Ventures is an early stage venture capital firm focused on investing in the first institutional round of investment for the most promising software and hardware companies.

Under Hudson's leadership, the VC firm has raised four funds and has over $175 million under management. In addition, he has invested in 250 companies and supported more than 400 founders, including the teams behind Clearco, Juniper Square, The Athletic, Incredible Health, Carrot, and Pair Eyewear.
